Bob Carroll to present at the August 29thDeer Park Rotary Club weekly meeting "Mentoring – The Essential Connection with Youth."

In every generation the question arises: “How do I connect with Youth?”  No little frustration accompanies this question, but the proceeding generations have a specific role to play in the development of our future leaders.  In this thirty-minute presentation, Bob Carroll outlines the path he has taken to influence many students overwhelmed with questions, seeking help to see their future clearly.

Bob has worked with local youth in Springdale, Deer Park and Riverside schools for the past 15 years.  The transition from high school to the halls of higher education, vocational training and apprenticeships require courage for students to travel.

The Deer Park Rotary Club sponsored the Springdale Interact Club, charted in 2009. The student membership numbered 30 and from the beginning, the students volunteered for community projects throughout the area.  In 2010, Cassie Howder became the President of the Interact Club at age 14.  Her leadership led to meeting Past Rotary International President Richard King.  He suggested to Rotary leaders that Cassie and Bob Carroll, the club advisor, had a story to tell.

Bob and Cassie were recruited to do a stage presentation of their unique stories at a large Rotary Zone Institute Event.  Although intended as a one-time address, requests for their presentation continued and as of today, they have performed their stage presentation 15 times. Bob and Cassie Howder, a 2013 graduate of Mary Walker High School in Springdale, have been sharing their message with tens of thousands of people for the last eight years, a story that looks deeply into their very personal journeys. Most recently Bob and Cassie were on stage in Hamburg, Germany at the Rotary International Convention attended by 25,000 people from 130 countries.

The program will include this latest production of their popular video stage presentation. Practical information will be shared at the Deer Park Rotary noon meeting but the video is simply inspiring. Our Club is excited to hear Bob’s message which has connected with the lives of so many.  Join us for this powerful presentation.

Cassie is currently the vice president of marketing for Capital One Bank Corporate Credit Cards in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she manages a team of twelve employees.  She is 24 years old.
